Pictures from Aunt Sara

Here are a few pictures Sara took of the girls while they spent the night last weekend. They went to the Zoo's Snow Day and got to hold some dirty snow. Sara got a cute photo of them eating breakfast that I wanted to share.

Things are going well in the Prather house. Addie is making more progress on potty training and Riley is accident free.

We have 6 weeks until my 30th birthday and then our trip to Southern California and Disneyland. I'm sad to see my 20's go but I'm sure my 30's will be awesome....or at least that is what I keep telling myself.

More on Potty Training

Dare I say it.....Riley is potty trained??? Now to clarify, she does wear a diaper to bed at night and we have been putting her in a diaper at nap time but she wakes up dry from her nap and screams that she has to go potty, so we have to run fast to get her up and get her to the potty. So other than the 1 diaper, she is full trained. She loves being a big girl and wearing panties. We have been keeping her in panties and just a shirt around the house for a couple of weeks now as it is easier for her to stop what she is doing and take her panties off to go.

Addison will not be swayed by what Riley is up to and she is doing things on her own time. She goes potty on the potty often but still wears a diaper most of the day. She has asked to wear panties and it will go well for a while but then she will forget and go potty in her panties. She is not quite ready and we are not pushing her. She will do things on her own time and in true Addison fashion, I'm sure.

The girls seem to be learning something new every day. Their vocabulary has expanded greatly. They say 5-6 word sentences and comprehend more than I realize. They know all of their colors and love pointing out what color each family member is wearing each day. They are working on their numbers. They can count to 5 with some help but other times they say, 1, 2, 8, 9. I guess they don't care too much about the numbers in the middle and go right to the end. It is so cute to hear them try though. We need to start working on letters here soon. I'm not sure why we have not been doing that yet but it is time to get going there. They love books and we have to read them at least 8 or 9 books at a time. 1 will never do. I am glad they love to read just like their mommy and daddy. We are able to buy new books often when Great Grandma Barb sends gift cards to Barnes and Noble. We go there as a family and let the girls pick out the books they would like. It is so much fun!

We are getting ready for out big trip to California. The trip is just about 6 1/2 weeks away. The girls are obsessed with going to Mickey and Minnie's house. They know that Tinker Bell will be there as well as a host of other Disney Characters. I think they sincerely believe that Papa lives at Disneyland since they go so often and bring back treats from the park. We told the girls that we are going to the beach during the trip and they think that the beach is at Disneyland too. It might as well be in my opinion.

I have been working hard to get into shape for the trip. I've lost almost 12 pounds and I feel great. Here is a picture of my progress so far:

I hope to lose about 10-15 more pounds over the next few months and be a healthy mom to my very active girls.

In other big news, the girls had their first overnight visit at Papa and Nana's house with Aunt Sara. On Friday night they stayed over night and did pretty well. They did not sleeping in their pack n' plays which worries me about the Disney Trip and where they are going to sleep but we will figure that out later. Anyway, they ended up sleeping in Aunt Sara's pull out bed with her instead of the pack n' plays and had fun with their Aunt. They went to the Zoo the next morning for a snow day in July which was very interesting. Both girls came home tired as can be but I know they enjoyed theme selves and had so much fun away from home. They were happy to have their cribs back and be at home despite all the fun times at Papa and Nana's. Sara hopes to take the girls once a month like that so Jesse and I can have a night to ourselves. We are thrilled with this idea and we hope the girls enjoy the break and all the fun away from home.

Happy 4th and Potty Training

In Phoenix it is very hot and therefore not very fun to stay out and watch fireworks so this year we skipped the shows in town. We opted to spend the day at home with the girls. Being that we were home, we were able to help the girls with potty training. The girls were really catching on. They are telling us when they need to go and we are asking frequently. Yesterday Riley had 7 successful trips and Addie had 6. They are so happy and proud of themselves. We are having them wear pull-ups and they do well keeping them dry.

For dinner we went out to dinner with Nana and Papa and enjoy a nice cool dinner inside. Next year we may try to get out of town or find a way to stay cool and let the girls enjoy the fireworks.
